The term "<nowiki>Linear PCM</nowiki>" is used to describe a form of PCM encoding where the "step size" in both the [[amplitude domain]] and the [[time domain]] are constant. In the amplitude domain this means the input voltage is divided into equal voltage divisions and in the time domain this means the input voltage is ''sampled'' at a constant [[sample frequency]].
