The Mini PRS-2 is aimed at providing a great CD sound quality, low cost, user-friendly solution. We put a lot into making it fit portable applications (Laptop). Housed in a robust metal case, it uses very little power (.25Watt). It also obeys the “sleep mode” and “hibernate mode” of a laptop. Laptops have the added advantage of silent operation (desktops have more fan noise). Portability does place some constraints on battery life, so we designed the Mini PRS-2 to work with dynamic microphones. Condenser microphones yield higher level but consume more energy. Our high-gain, built-in preamplifier makes the old level argument into a non-issue. While the biggest advantage of the Mini PRS-2 is sound quality and value, we believe much of the appeal is in its simplicity and extreme ease of setup, learning and usage.
